Pre-Christmas Work

So thanks to a visit from my mom and dad and continual help from friends we were able to make more headway before we left for Christmas break! All three bedrooms and the bathroom upstairs were completely painted: ceiling, walls, closets, and trim! [AMEN for having a mom that is a rockstar painter!!] (The master bedroom needs new trim installed...)

We did a lot of measuring and figuring and planning on the inside, but otherwise our greatest strides were made in the yard. The north side of the house has this small area that really serves no purpose, although apparently it was serving the purpose of a catch all for the previous owners:
I pulled all of this out of there, along with two small coffee table sized
pieces of granite (ok, my dad moved the granite, I just uncovered it...)
And apparently Josh and dad added fill dirt, plastic and flagstone over here,
I just haven't seen it yet because it has been covered in snow since we got back :)
And the demolition in the back yard continued...

...until the side yard looked like this:

At which point we decided we needed one of these:

So a day was spent playing Tetris with chunks of concrete and juniper branches. (Daddy had two really cute helpers, but YouTube is being a hater so I can't figure out how to upload the videos for you to watch...)

And the pile of concrete thankfully disappeared :) (And that pile of wood is slowly disappearing thanks to a wonderful blessing from CCU's facilities department who told us we could dump in their dumpsters as long as we do it the nights before the trucks come to empty them!)

So as we pulled away to take a much-needed Christmas break, we got to see progress from

THIS

to THIS!
Debo busted out the rest of those concrete steps before we left, so now we have all dirt (aka mud) out there!
And THIS
to THIS!

*UP NEXT: The Living Room and Kitchen, eek!!
