Back to Yosemite!

Meem (Naomi's interpretation of Grammy that she came up with over Christmas) and Pop came to visit in February, and extended their stay a few days to travel up to Yosemite with us for a weekend!

While the guys were off doing crazy mountain biking, Naomi, Mom, Meem, and Katie hiked to the waterfall on High Sierra's campus. On our way we found newts, Naomi's favorite new animal! 
First, Katie picked one up and handed it to Naomi...

 ...then Naomi found one herself and picked it up...

 ...this one walked to Katie's hand and Naomi directed it back to hers...

 ...and said 'Haallow Newt!' (I thought she was gonna eat it!)

We finally made it to the waterfall.

 But unfortunately we didn't see a single newt 

on the hike back...even though Naomi yelled

 'Newt! Newt! Newt!' the whole way back ;-)

Then it was time for the rock climbing wall, a first time experience for Meem and Pop!

Naomi wasn't sure if she was excited while people were going up, or if she should pray out of her fear that they were so high :)

   

The next day we did a hike/snowshoe out to Dewey Point...it was B-E-A-U-tiful!

 We took a break at the point to enjoy the view and eat our lunch. I'm pretty sure this was Naomi's PB&J sandwich, which she loved!

 

 Naomi thought Mommy was funny when she drank out of the straw, and then realized how fun it was and did it for the rest of the time until we loaded her back up in the backpack for the hike out (and had a REALLY wet diaper when we got back to the car) ;-)

Luckily the snow was hard packed enough that we didn't really need the snowshoes...but since we carried them the whole way out there, some of us decided to try them out on the way back. It was a fun experience... 

...and while the rest of us waddled in our snowshoes, Naomi enjoyed some Doritos ;-)

The next morning we hiked back to the waterfall in search of newts before heading home...which unfortunately produced no newt sightings...but Naomi enjoyed herself anyway!
